Climate Ready Australia 2030

Helen Elliott

Please note that this is an on-going project.

Project Description

Climate Ready Australia 2030 (CRA2030) brings together partners from across society to drive climate action in Australia.
We have assembled a growing alliance of peak bodies that we work with to identify common priorities for their sectors and members.
These priorities have underpinned the development of a robust and shared agenda for national climate action. Together, we are working to advance the shared agenda, develop the investment plan and national capability needed to drive strategic, coordinated and just climate action in Australia.

Project Personnel and Beneficiaries

The intent of CRA2030 work is to deliver a public good for current and future generations.

Direct and immediate beneficiaries vary with each project scoped and undertaken from the Shared Agenda.

Key stakeholders are the CRA2030 Alliance of Peaks, subject matter experts and advisors for each project area, and industry and government project partners, which include government departments and agencies.

Outcomes to Date

CRA2030 is in its foundational stages, but has commenced its first two climate action projects from the Shared Agenda.
* CRA2030 Priority Project 1.01 National climate policy framework: A project to help Australians understand the scope of existing climate mitigation and adaptation policies at the National and sub-national levels.
*CRA2030 Priority Project 3.06 Tracking and reporting of emissions: A project to identify, consolidate and communicate existing emissions tracking and reporting resources and tools to build knowledge and capability for emissions tracking, reporting and disclosure.

Also in planning through the CRA2030 Project, is the Climate Ready Australia National Summit. This is a two-day inaugural event (22 – 23 Nov 2023) will bring together research and practice perspectives to amplify action towards a Climate Ready Australia. Aligned with SDGs 7,8,11,9,12,13,14, 15,17.

Project Significance

CRA2030 embraces climate action as a sustainable development pathway. CRA2030 work is framed around the CRA2030 Shared Agenda, which includes a key principle of alignment to the SDGs. The Climate Ready Australia 2030 (CRA2030) Shared Agenda is a non-binding strategic framework to advance transformative cross-sectoral climate action that contributes to a climate ready Australia by 2030. It articulates the common priorities and principles for action identified by the CRA2030 Alliance of Peak bodies (the Alliance of Peaks). The Alliance is operationalising this Shared Agenda by developing, delivering, and reporting on projects in each of the Shared Agenda’s listed climate action areas.
