Project Significance

Webinar – alumnus and resilience expert Associate Professor Cheryl Desha led a discussion with five panellists spanning the public and private sector. Sharing key insights and learnings from the most recent disaster contexts, including flooding, COVID-19 and rodent plagues and provided valuable tools for individuals and decision-makers in tackling these unprecedented challenges and building capacity and resilience.

Breakfast delivered in partnership with the Gold Coast SUNS – Sport has the power to be an agent for sustainable change in the areas of gender equality, inclusion and diversity in classrooms, organisations and the public sphere. Discussed how sport can harness this power and engage the community to address these complex issues.

Expert exchange – held in partnership with the Griffith MATE Bystander Initiative, looked at how to be an effective bystander for positive change, and brought together a panel of leaders pioneering change in their corporate environments to prevent domestic and family violence. The discussion focused on the role of the bystander in preventing violence and disrespect, and equipped individuals and organisations with the tools to understand what disrespectful behaviour looks like, the confidence to be able to call it out and ultimately take action to be part of the solution.

Breakfast – A panel of experts talked about creating positive impact through business to broaden understanding of social enterprise and business for good. They discussed the unique juncture of change, challenge and opportunity, and looked for new, holistic solutions, and regenerative change to rise to these challenges and opportunities.

Breakfast – A panel of Griffith alumni discussed the importance of aligning your personal values with those of your workplace. Such alignment is critical for career sustainability, wellbeing and success.
