Project Description

The strategy drives athlete performance, education, research and leadership to improve outcomes for women in sport.

Project Personnel and Beneficiaries

The strategy seeks to support elite female athletes, and support female academics researching in sport.

Education and Leadership – influencing to ensure there are strong outcomes for everyone in sport, despite gender.

Outcomes to Date

Capability building for female leaders in sport (increase in leadership positions) – Griffith MBA Women in Sport Leadership Scholarship

Paris Olympics and Para – Griffith had more female athletes than any other Australian University (including 9 females to win Gold)

Project Significance

There are large gender inequities in sport around athlete support, research in female athletes, leadership positions in sport (including coaching). Showcasing and highlighting elite female sporting athletes has shown to have strong ties to reducing gender inequities in community values and sport.
