Project Description

The Australia Awards Short Course Aus4ASEAN Skills Forecasting for the Fourth Industrial Revolution was delivered under the Australian Governments Digital Transformation and Future Skills initiative, as part of a package aimed at supporting Australia’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the Association of South Asian Nations (ASEAN). The course was delivered to over 100 participants over 4 cohorts, enabling them to exchange expertise on skills forecasting while connecting with Australian government agencies and experts in the field.

Project Personnel and Beneficiaries

The Participants’ came from organisations and government agencies across Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam including the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Prime Minister’s Office, Brunei, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Human Resources Development Foundation, National University of Laos, Cambodian Federation of Employers and Business Associations (CAMFEBA) and Asian Institute of Technology Center in Vietnam (AIT Vietnam) and many more universities, training institutions and government departments across the ASEAN countries.

Outcomes to Date

The program has allowed professionals and academics from universities, TVET training facilities and government agencies to create connections with each other and in Australia, coming together to provide improved education and employment opportunities to their countries.

Project Significance

The program aligns with SDG goal 8, “Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all”. In particular, target 8.6 “Promote youth employment, education and training” by utilizing skills forecasting to reduce the gap between the demand and supply in skills.
