The SmARTs Program at Logan Campus

Project Description

The event was sponsored by the Smith Family’s SmArts program, which aims to raise students’ education by connecting students in years 8 to 12 who are interested in creative arts and was facilitated by QCAD’s Dr Sally Molloy, it was the first time Logan had hosted a SmArts program.

Project Personnel and Beneficiaries

The Smith Family, Queensland College of Art and
Design (QCAD) and Logan campus and 12 local high school students.

Outcomes to Date

It gave students an opportunity to expand their horizons and give them a broader understanding of what the world of art looks like outside of school.

Project Significance

Through various art-making processes students workshopped the role that storytelling can play in both imagining and creating bright futures and through the hands-on process of mural painting, we embodied the skills of collaboration, communication and creativity to produce awesome public art.
