Project Description

This online short course engaged participants from South Asia, North Africa and the Pacific. The program explored climate change mitigation and adaptation, with a specific focus on best practices in water resources management (WRM) and water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH) for achieving water security outcomes.

The course included twelve modules delivered over six weeks across four cohorts. Over one hundred and fifty participants benefited from the course, which bought together experts from organisations in the climate change and water sector.

Project Personnel and Beneficiaries

The Participants’ belonged to organisations and government agencies including:
World Vision International
Asian Development Bank
PLAN International
Pacific Disability Forum
UNICEF
Egyptian Meteorological Authority
Institute of Arid Regions of Medenine (IRA)
Egyptian Public Authority for Drainage Projects

Outcomes to Date

The short course created networking opportunities and cross-border collaborations for participants while introducing new tools, case studies and material on key issues in the region.

Participants from all cohorts came together for a symposium session, allowing them to present the work and issues around climate change and water that they were tackling in their home countries.

Project Significance

Participants built knowledge and skills through engaging online sessions which will showcase evidence, case studies, tools and approaches that can support climate change decision making, policy and planning with respect to WaSH & WRM.

GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion) intersections were interwoven throughout the course, highlighting gendered impacts, and the specific requirements of people with a disability, the elderly and young children, and ethnic minorities with respect to climate impacts.
