Allan McLardy

Project Description

In partnership with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dedicated Memorial Queensland Incorporated we supported the formation of Queensland’s first dedicated indigenous war memorial to honour the service and sacrifices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service men and women.

Project Personnel and Beneficiaries

Griffith University and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dedicated Memorial Queensland Incorporated worked in partnerships to design, develop, fundraise for and install this memorial in recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service personnel.

Outcomes to Date

The funds have been raised and the memorial built, it was unveiled in May 2022 by the Premier of Queensland Annastacia Palaszczuk and the Lord Mayor of Brisbane Adrian Schrinner

Project Significance

The primary objective was to design, manufacture and install a war memorial in ANZAC Square, Brisbane to honour, respect and remember Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women who have served and those who have paid the supreme sacrifice for our country. The memorial was gifted to the Queensland State Government as a legacy in May 2022.
Honouring the service contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians to the nation is a vital part of the reconciliation.
