Project Description
Uni Life is a program run by a charity, the Centre for Inclusive Supports Inc.
It is a day program for young adults to transition out of secondary school and into work or study over two to three years. It is based at a university campus where students and participants mingle naturally and the young people have an identity as a university student.
Project Personnel and Beneficiaries
The program benefits neurodiverse young adults between 17 years old and 25 years old, with intellectual impariment.
Outcomes to Date
Life is better for the first group of 6 young men and their families as shared in an evaluation report. Second group has started with 4 participants and growing. The students around campus are very accepting and welcoming of the Uni Life participants.
Project Significance
The Centre for Inclusive Supports Inc. is a registered charity. It is a social enterprise, an organisation that operates for the good of society. The Association is directly impacting two of the world’s Sustainable Development Goals – Goal 4 Quality Education and Goal 10 Reduced Inequalities.
The charity’s program, Uni Life, is making a differerence to young people who often end up isolated at home, in a day program mingling with older adults, or doing community access with a support worker. Uni Life offers them a supported pathway to work or study in an inclusive environment.
