Multi-service Assessment of Intertidal Treatment Wetlands

Fernanda Adame Vivanco

Project Description

This project aims to assess the ecosystem services and disservices from a constructed coastal wetland used to offset nitrogen inputs into Moreton Bay.

Project Personnel and Beneficiaries

The construction industry (Lendlease), Redland City Council, Queensland Department of Environment and Sciences and Water Technology are all partners invested in data that supports this nature-based solution.

Outcomes to Date

The project is in initial stages.

Project Significance

It is the first time that an offset project from the constructions of mangroves will take place in Australia. It is crucial to have this pilot project that could trigger many other similar projects for improving water quality through nature based solutions.
