Project Description
In this project, Kabul Polytechnic University (KPU) will develop and deliver a new Masters of Integrated Water Resource Management (MIWRM) targeted at building the capabilities of water professionals from the Afghan Government. The MIWRM will provide those professionals with the whole-of-water-cycle, technical and inter-disciplinary skills and knowledge needed to design and implement IWRM approaches. It will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively respond to the range of population, climate change and governance related water challenges facing the country. IWC will build KPU’s capacity to do so.
Project Personnel and Beneficiaries
KPU, Asian Development Bank, IWC, Griffith University and the beneficiaries are the water policy, planning and management civil servants of the Government of Afghanistan
Outcomes to Date
Completed – 1 Masters degree designed and built, 2 x cohorts of 30 students each have progressed through and graduated.
Project Significance
It builds capacity to implement IWRM approaches in Afghanistan – this is a target of SDG6.
