Project Significance
The Social Marketing @Griffith team has led an exemplary koala conservation initiative in South East Queensland, employing marketing principles to drive community action against threats to koalas. Since 2016, through its Koala Threat Mitigation Project, the team has forged partnerships with councils, conservation experts and local businesses, co-designing interventions with the community. The project has significantly reduced koala fatalities from dog attacks and engaged local residents in broader threat mitigation efforts. This initiative has sparked record community engagement, demonstrating the power of social marketing in driving significant change and fostering community-based solutions for environmental conservation.
