Project Description
This activity involves participating in the organising committee of the IAEA Fusion Energy Conference held every 2 years. The aim is to assist international fusion energy research assemble the program for each upcoming conference and decide on presentations, priorities, and logistical matters for running the meeting.

Outcomes to Date
Participating in this activity helps demonstrate Australia’s commitment to emerging energy research. This has been through participating in discussions and decision making at the planning meetings at the IAEA HQ in Vienna, and advocating for Australian representation at international level, as well as advocating for smaller, under represented nations.
Project Significance
SDG 7 – Access to clean, reliable and affordable energy is a precondition for sustainable economic growth and improved human well-being, affecting health, education and job opportunities. The IAEA fosters the efficient and safe use of emerging fusion energy power by supporting research in existing and new nuclear programmes around the world, catalyzing innovation and building capacity in energy planning, analysis, and in nuclear information and knowledge management.
SDG 17 – Close collaboration between the IAEA, its Member States, United Nations organizations and other international and civil society organizations helps to maximize the impact of the IAEA’s support towards the achievement of development priorities.
