Project Description
The Rotary Clubs of Southport, Broadbeach, Hope Island and the Rotary Satellite Club of Southport—Griffith University partner in a fundraising project to support the work of the Institute for Glycomics at Griffith University on the Gold Coast.
The fundraising project has been registered by Rotary Australia Benevolent Society (RABS) and endorsed by the National Committee of Rotarians Against Malaria (RAM). In 2017, Rotary and the Institute for Glycomics formally established The Malaria Vaccine Project, which is managed on behalf of the two partners by the Malaria Vaccine Committee. This Committee is charged with raising funds for the research.

The outcomes of this research will benefit all those who are faced with risks of malaria. The funds raised will help support the researchers who are working to develop the vaccine, and in 2021 the partnerships provided funding towards the clinical trials.
Outcomes to Date

Rotary meetings
Rotary Surfers Paradise Race Day
Rotary Hope Island Black Tie Dinner
Rotary Hope Island BBQ at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Shoe
Members of Rotary also provide personal introductions and champion support for the malaria vaccine project.
Funds raised in 2021 – over $110,000
