Project Description
The purpose for this project is to update the existing hydrodynamic-microbial models for the Mid-Brisbane River with the latest three-year data from 2020 to 2022. These three years are particularly wet than other years and represent an opportunity to better understand the microbial conditions in the river system during a wet period.
Project Personnel and Beneficiaries
Seqwater stakeholders, including dam operators, water quality experts, and asset officers. This project benefits Seqwater by providing an updated river models to better understand microbial conditions in the Mid-Brisbane River during wet period, critical information for planning future upgrading the downstream water treatment plant.
Outcomes to Date
The full draft of best practice guidelines for lake modelling has been developed and reviewed by the water utility stakeholders. A final set of guidelines will be release in September 2023.
Project Significance
The updated river model will help Seqwater, a water utility supplying drinking water to more than 3.2 million residents in Southeast Queensland, better plan dam operation and capital investment in upgrading water treatment capacity for climate adaptation.
